Day 2 of the virtual tour of our first trip to Kenya. Samburu retains a special place in our hearts, our first National park on our first trip to Kenya. We saw so much that first trip, everything was new to us and exciting and each time we have returned we have not been disappointed. Some of the animals are unique to the drier north, the Grevy's Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe and the Gerenuk (aka the Giraffe Gazelle) to name a few.
We also saw our first ever Leopard there, not a close sighting but a Leopard in the flesh.... a real live CHUI, so, so exciting and seeing him capped off an already wonderful day.
While we are in lockdown and safe the same cannot be said of the the wildlife in the national parks. As all National Parks and Reserves in Kenya are closed poachers are taking the opportunity to enter these places to hunt the wildlife unchecked. The Community Wildlife Project aims to  support existing anti-poaching units / organizations as well as supporting the local communities during the Covid-19 pandemic. Please check out the website and help in anyway you can, share the message. Conservation is in the hands of all of us.
